We congratulate our Bone Ambassadors
Osteoporosis New Zealand congratulates Caroline Meyer and Georgina Earl (nee Evers-Swindell) on receiving the country's top sporting accolade – the Westpac Halberg Awards 'Sports Champion of the Decade 2000-2009'.
The Halberg Awards salute outstanding achievement by New Zealanders in sport at home and overseas. Chosen by a voting academy comprising 29 media journalists, coaches and athletes who have excelled at the highest level, the Award recognizes their achievement in winning back-to-back double sculls Olympic Gold Medals – and giving them the edge over other contenders.
Caroline and Georgina became our Ambassadors after their iconic rowing win at the 2004 Olympics. Wanting to make a contribution to New Zealand and New Zealanders, they chose our cause as a vehicle for promoting the many benefits of an active lifestyle and good nutrition.
Caroline and Georgina are an integral part of our annual 'You Deserve a Medal' awards, presenting our winners with gold medals which are given in recognition of the inspiration their active lives give others in their families, communities and workplaces.
